I Love American Idol at the beginning...

The first few episodes of a new American Idol season are always my faves.
It's like an emotional roller coaster. I cry almost every time someone gets a "golden ticket" (don't ask why) and I laugh the the hilariosity (i know that's not a word) But duuuuuuude...some people are really bad. As Randy Jackson would say "Sorry Dawg...this competition is not for you."
I had a few favourites tonight, but my #1 was Emily Hughes. She sang Barracuda by Heart. First of all, I love this song. Second of all, it's really hard to sing. Simon even said so. LOL

Humanmetrics
I did this quiz on myself today to see what my personality type was (according to "myers-briggs").
It's pretty interesting even if you don't believe in this kind of stuff.
It asks you 72 yes or no questions and rates you in these 4 dimensions:
1. Introvert (I) vs. Extrovert (E): How energized are you be other people? I finds being in a crowd draining, whereas E finds it energizing.
2. Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N): N means more likely to go with a gut-feeling. S is more by-the-books.
3. Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F): How much do you emotions weigh into your decision making?
4. Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P): J means more punctual and driving for closure. P is more flexible.
I got ENFJ. Apparently that means I'm an idealist and careers I'd excel at are teaching, psychologist, physician, management, politics. I'm not really one to settle for just one so I'll choose one that encompasses all.
Famous ENFJ'ers: OPRAH (woohoo), Michael Jordan, Johnny Depp, Ben Stiller, Ben Affleck, John Cusack

What's a Brazen Hussy Anyway?.....
My dear friend Michelle Muir wrote this for us. She's a talented writer, poet and teacher and I love her guts...She has a way with words. Actually more than just a way...a MAGIC...
If you ever wanted to know what a brazen hussy is...read on...
BRAZEN HUSSY
"Well ...I gotta tell you I’ve been called a lot of things
But this new one is one of my favourites.
Queen. Diva. Isis. Sheba.
I’ve been called them all And really...
I’ve never been too fussy But this new one I’ve heard
Sums me up in just two words And those words are Brazen Hussy.
Maya broke it down phenomenally But just in case you hadn’t heard
Brazen is the new phenomenal And Hussy is the new catch word.
Sweet and sassy Sexy and classy
I’m a lady With a tiger in my belly
And a takin’ care of business attitude
Y’all can’t tell me nothin’ When I’m in that mood.
I’m as Brazen as I wanna be.
I Am so fly Even my errors are correct.
And might I just interject That the dictionary didn’t do us justice
When it tried to discuss us
But now that its just us Let’s gather round While I run it down
The degree of our brazen pedigree
In this place In this time and in this space
I am adventurous Outrageous Strong willed And courageous.
If it’s bad to be bold to excess Then of that I brazenly confess To be guilty.
I Am a complex diva From head top To foot bottom
Quick wit Keen mind Sexy ass smile...
I got ‘em It is here In this great space That true Brazen Hussies Come to congregate.
Here is where we get to meet all the ladies.
With their brazen styles And their brazen flavours
And their brazen moods And their brazen behaviours.
Don’t think We don’t know what they say When we’re wearing the hell out of our clothes
And we put that extra little sway In our Chante sashay.
Yes babies... This new name stands up And stands tall As the one that explains it all.
Maya broke it down phenomenally But just in case you hadn’t heard
Brazen is the new phenomenal And Hussy is the new catch word."

The Porn Industry is asking for a BAILOUT now?!?

According to Larry Flynt (Hustler Mag), sales are down 25%.
He and Joe Francis (Girls gone wild) have asked the US Government for a $5 Billion bailout. Hahahaha
Last year the porn industry brought in $12-13 Billion dowwwwlaaas.
I think that if the government is handing out money to the Auto Industry then giving the porn industry a couple mill is justified.
It makes sense to me..
This is obviously a publicity stunt. In an interview I just saw on the news, Larry Flynt said he's trying to make congress look stupid.
When you think about it...what's the difference. Both industries bring in tons of dough. One of them is just more fun than the other...Don't hate the player- hate the game. LOL

Just because we're in a RECESSION doesn't mean we can't have fun

I'm so sick of people complaining about how "POVER" (short for poverty) they are and how they can't have any fun.
My advice is: Try a new low-budget activity that you haven't tried before and who knows?? You might discover something you actually enjoy and didn't know you would.
I know I complain too...a lot...but i'm gonna quit that. My new attitude is: You don't need to "ball out" to have a good time. Grey goose is only a fun "enhancer" not the source of fun. (And repeat over and over to self until I actually believe it)
Here are my top 4 (couldn't think of 5) cheap & FUN things to do:
4. BOWLING: I forgot how fun bowling was until 5 years ago when we went for my sister's birthday. We went again in November with a group of 10 and it was super fun. Lucky Strike at Vaughan Mills is a nice spot. It's clean and pretty and you can get bottle service and good food. It's like a club setting but way more fun. On weekends they have a DJ too.
3. ICE SKATING: Toronto is a great place for outdoor skating rinks. I love the rink at Harbourfront centre. You can rent skates there for $7. They also have special skate nights where they have a DJ. How fun..
2. GAMES NIGHT: For the past 2 weeks, I've hosted a "games night" at my place. Everyone brings a snack or a bottle of wine and we play board games and watch movies or play poker. It's a hit amongst my "pover" buddies. I am a great Taboo player. It's one of the best board games ever invented. So we usually don't touch that game because I demolish anyone who challenges me. Also, if you're gonna play poker, play for money- even if it's $5 each...it's way more fun!
1. KARAOKE: This can be an amazingly FUN activity to do with a bunch of friends. I would recommend BMB Karaoke 593 Bloor W, W. of Bathurst. I've been here a few times with a small group of friends. You can rent out rooms at an hourly rate. Rooms come with a TV, comfy couches 2 mics and a huge book of songs to choose from. There's also a bar that serves beer and wine. You can sing at the top of your lungs and just go nuts without having to worry about strangers judging you or having to listen to randoms sing country tunes.
If you have an xbox at home or a Playstation there are lots of fun karaoke games. I just bought LIPS on xbox 360. There's 40 songs to choose from and at the end it rates you. You can challenge friends. it's pretty fun but you can get bored of the same songs. p.s. I'm kind of awesome at this game. Undefeated actually. But whateves...it's in my Filipino blood to be a natural karaoke-ist.

Vegan Shmegan
So..my BF and I were discussing "Veggie" burgers and other vegetarian dishes and we think it's kind of silly how they make veggie burgers look exactly like real 100% meaty beefy delicious burgers. The more they look & taste like the real thing the better reviews they get. (p.s. the photo above is a veggie burger from a restaurant called the flying saucer)
If you really can't stand the REAL thing then how can you eat anything that resembles it in the slightest?
I know...I get it...it's made of soy & crap but still...why don't you make it look like something totally opposite?
It's an OXYMORON if you ask me...(definition: a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “poor little rich girl.”) or as in "I don't like eating animals but I like eating things that look like it could be made of animals".
Take TOFURKEY for example. They've managed to make a whole wack of food alternatives to meat products. The best one is called "Tofurkey Jurkey Wishstix" which is the Tofurky version of a wishbone. The Wishstix are made of a jerky-esque product, essentially two strips - one visibly longer than the other – that are attached in the middle. It's like a real wishbone. So...let's get this straight...the thought of eating a real turkey disturbs you, but you want the fun of the wishbone so you made a fake one that is an exact replica of the bone found in a turkey? Wow...make up your mind? Once you gave up eating real turkey, you gave up making wishes on wishbones. It just comes with the territory.
To me, all this meat alternative food that looks like meat is a mean trick towards Carnivores...I went to FRESH with my cousin the other week and I was kind of excited. I got the veggie burger and it looked awesome. Like a real burger but when I took the first bite, it was a disappointment. It had a weird texture and didn't taste as good as meat.
If God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of delicious meat.
p.s. Dear vegetarians, no offense. I still love you.
Mimi
