Brazen Hussy x Girlicious x Danny Fernandes video = FANTASY

The Bossy Girls (Caitlin & Vili) are 2 of my fave stylists/make-up/hair etc. you name it, they do it.

I love them because not only do they have an eye for what's hot, they support Brazen Hussy whenever the opportunity arises. They try to promote and use Brazen Hussy items to style their projects as much as they can.

The most recent job they had involved them styling Danny Fernandes' new video FANTASY.

Caitlin called me from the set and told me that all 4 of the members of Girlicious, refused to wear any other line but Brazen. Awww....we were so flattered that we let them keep the stuff they wore in the video.

Song OBSESSION of the week - Brooklyn (We go hard)

I know iphone has this program that you can put your phone to the speaker and it will tell you what song it is.  My blackberry does not come with that program so I have to do it the old fashion way.  I try to remember some lines to the song and google when I get home.

 

So anyway...I've been playing this song at work on repeat and wanting to "WILE OUT" as the kids say.

 

It's JAY-Z feat. Santogold...  Apparently I love Santogold because this is not the first song I've loved by her.  "The Creator" was the song that originally caught my attention.  Her sound is like M.I.A. x yeah yeah yeahs x nelly furtado?  I don't know..

All I know is that this song with JAY-Z has almost made me want to go out tonight just so I could request it at the club and hear it LOUD.

Toronto aka Siberia...WTF

Sometimes I wonder why we live here. OMG...I'm freezing my ass off. I don't want to leave the house b/c it's like walking out into a deep freezer. No thanks!

The worst part is that I have to go down to my storage and get out my winter clothes. I have to start wearing my long coat that is pretty much a sleeping bag with a hood. I have to wear thick pants and ugg-type footwear. AKA for the next 4 months, my style must suffer in order to not get frostbite. Everyone who lives here goes through it. And everyone gets fat b/c they wear baggy jogging pants or leggings everyday. OK. I'm starting to get depressed.

What happened to Fall? It was summer and then it started snowing. We've lost our transition seasons. Spring and Fall are nonexistant.

Manny Pacquiao: From ZERO to HERO

Lesson #1: Speed Kills...

Manny Pacquiao aka PACMAN aka the PEOPLE'S CHAMP aka the MEXICUTIONER beats De La Hoya in what was called "the dream match". De La Hoya was advised not to go on after the 8th round of a 12-round fight. Every Filipino person I knew was watching this.

To be honest, I don't really care about boxing but my (filipino) people rarely ever get to experience stuff like this. So of course, I had to get in on the action. I didn't realize what a big deal this guy was until my friend Ania called me from Vegas to tell me that MGM is packed with Filipino people (Most of which she agreed I was taller than...yay!). So I got on the internet and googled this dude. I ended up watching this 28 minute HBO special on youtube called: De La Hoya Pacquiao 24/7 Episode 1 (HBO) and fell in love. He is a true Filipino. He works hard, extremely disciplined, feels obligated to support his family and his country and lives in a 2 bedroom apartment with 10 other people (so filipino) and sings karaoke (ha).

Pacquiao, 29, is considered the greatest sports HERO the Philippines has ever had. He is THE most famous person in the country. He dropped out of school when he was 12, sold cigarettes in the streets and turned to boxing in order to survive (Gotta love a good story). He doesn't take his title as a hero lightly. His international fame has impacted the Philippines through his foundation administering many charities and medical clinics. He reportedly spent $700,000 for tickets to the match that he gave out to friends and relatives. That's 35 Million Pesos!!

"Back home in the Philippines, he's revered as a real-life Rocky who slugged his way out of the country's pervasive poverty and proved that Filipinos can compete and win on the global stage...Since then, he's been busy shooting commercials and a movie, collecting awards, attending parties in his honor and, most recently, campaigning for his friend President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in the nation's upcoming election who says:

"There are two things this country is hungry for: a fighter and a hero"

Well...the country need look no further. Pacquiao is here...

I bought new cd's today. Hooray!

So for the past few years, I've noticed my tolerance for NEW music has been on a decline.

Almost everytime I turn on the radio I find myself saying "This is the dumbest song I've ever heard". The beat of a song is important but lyrics are just as important, if not MORE important, to me when deciding if I like a song. And let's be honest...lyrics (especially hip hop) to songs these days don't exactly enthrall me.

I've always been a music lover. Almost any kind of music moves me (except 'high energy dance'... I just don't get it). When I was a little girl my dad used to take me to SEARS in Thornhill once a week and I was allowed to choose ONE cassette tape to buy.

I would frantically unwrap plastic off the tape as soon as I got in the car and pop it in the tape deck and teach my dad about popular music and what the hell these people were saying (My dad is ESL...gotta love him). Then I'd get home, lock myself in my room and play the tape over and over and memorize every word and write down the lyrics to my faves (if they didn't already come with the tape). Then I would sing and dance and wonder what the songwriter was thinking when they wrote it.

So today I felt nostalgic when I went into HMV on Queen St. and chose 4 cd's to purchase. They were: Kanye West - 808's & Heartbreak, John Legend- Evolver, Jason Mraz- We sing. we dance. we steal things, and Q-Tip - The Renaissance. Wow...cd's are like $10 these days. I rikee...

So far I'm digging the Q-Tip cd...

There is hope for new music. Yaaaay!
